Swell Scout is free. There's no account and nothing to pay for, so these terms are short.
The app is free and comes as-is
You can use Swell Scout for any legal purpose, personal or commercial, and it costs nothing. It comes without any warranty. We don't promise that it will always be available, that it will be accurate, or that it won't have bugs.
It isn't a safety device
Don't rely on Swell Scout to decide whether something is safe. It shows forecasts and instrument readings that other organizations publish. Buoys break, forecasts get things wrong, and the ocean can change faster than any forecast updates.
Look at the water before you go in. If you're navigating a boat, or making any call where being wrong could get someone hurt, use the official National Weather Service marine forecasts and Coast Guard guidance. Don't use this app for that.
The data isn't ours
Buoy readings, tides and forecasts come from NOAA, the National Weather Service, NDBC, NOAA CO-OPS and Open-Meteo. The coastline comes from Natural Earth. Each of those sources has its own terms and its own level of accuracy. Swell Scout is an independent app that reads their public data. We're not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.
No account to close
There's no account to close and no subscription to cancel. When you uninstall the app, you stop using it and everything it saved is deleted. All of that was only ever on your own phone anyway. The privacy policy has the details.
Liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss, injury or damage that comes from using Swell Scout, from not being able to use it, or from the third-party data it shows. Some places don't allow some of these exclusions. If you live in one of them, those exclusions don't apply to you.
Changes
These terms might change as the app changes. The date at the top shows when they were last updated. If you keep using the app after a change, that means you accept the new terms.
